Carpets -Discount vs Full Service
Before you buy that cheaper carpet you may want to think twice.
Outlets that sell discount carpets may not have the same quality of stock and customer service that a full service carpeting store may have.
Start with selection; will that outlet that sells merchandise at a reduced price have the selection with brand names you are looking for? You don’t want to settle for just anything to cover the floors in your living room. This is an investment that will last for years. You want a carpet you can be proud of when friends and loved ones come to visit. Who really wants an off brand, dated pattern of discount carpets that wasn’t exactly their first choice?
Will there be plenty of service people to help you pick out the carpet you need? A store that sells discount carpets has to cut corners in price somewhere. Most likely it’s going to be in the area of service and that includes informed salespeople who are committed to making sure you get exactly what you need in carpeting.
Will the sales people be knowledgeable? With a store that sells any discounted items, you may get a sales person who is ill trained and isn’t as knowledgeable about your needs. Outlets that sell discount carpets are not as committed to knowledgeable sales people. Their objective is the lowest price possible, nothing more.
When you purchase the carpet is installation included? You may be expected to install the carpeting yourself. Do you have the know how to perfectly install your wall-to-wall discount carpets? If you don’t, you may make a mistake causing years of problems with your investment up to and including your carpeting wearing down quicker. Worse yet, if you hire a contractor to install your discount carpets you may wind up paying just as much as you would for brand name carpet at a full service store.
Is the padding for underneath the carpeting included? The price may not include padding.
You may ask yourself, "what’s the use of padding anyway, I can’t even see it”? Padding eases wear and tear on your floors, your discount carpets and your feet. Padding allows the carpeting to look newer longer so you won’t have to buy more carpeting any time soon. Padding gives that lush soft feel under your feet of a new, good quality carpet. With discount carpets, you may not have that nice new look or feel as long as you are hoping. In addition, if you can wait longer until you buy your next carpet, you’ve actually saved more money than you would with these discount carpet outlets!
Think before you buy carpets from an outlet store. You may not get the same quality, look and service you’d get in a full service establishment.
